Our Winery
Alpasión is nestled against the Andes mountain range in the Uco Valley appellation of Mendoza, Argentina. The project consists of 165 acres of organic vineyard surrounded by natural vegetation at an elevation of approximately 3900 feet – among the highest throughout Mendoza. The founding investors utilized the results of an extensive ground study by a renowned terroir specialist to create the best producing vineyard layout on what was a virgin, greenfield site. Our first wines were produced in 2011. Alpasión is nearing completion of our on-site winery, which began with a large barrel room, as we achieve our goal of estate grown and bottled high-end wines.
The Alpasión wine portfolio consists of a wide range of wines including our flagship Malbecs as well as single varietal Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot – culminating with our signature “Private Selection” blend of exceptional quality estate-grown varietals which changes every year.
We believe in making the best possible wine according to sustainable organic standards. Uco Valley’s high altitude, dry climate, stable sunshine, and stony soils result in fruit with exceptional ripeness. Our grapes are hand-picked and sorted, fermented using indigenous yeast, then aged in French oak barrels. In the glass, Alpasión wines are well-balanced and expressive with great structure, fine tannins, balanced acidity and pleasing, long finishes.
Our simple objective is to put our hearts and souls into everything we do. “Alpasión” is a combination of the Spanish words “alma” (soul) and “pasión” (passion). We even put our fingerprints on the labels to signify our commitment and passion for this project! In addition to the vineyard and nearly-complete winery, the project also boasts a high quality six-room lodge together with three, soon to be finished, permanent glamping structures along with our exquisite onsite restaurant, serving traditional locally-sourced Argentinian cuisine.
We hope the passion we bring to our wines touches your soul. Salud!
