In 1987, Elyse Winery began with 286 cases of Zinfandel from the Morisoli Vineyard in Rutherford. Since then, Elyse has blossomed into a portfolio of Zinfandel, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Petite Sirahs focused on pure expression of fruit with a sense of place. Elyse Winery has been the launching pad for countless wine lovers to explore some of our region’s most celebrated vineyards.
Now under the direction of Josh Peeples & Cheryl Foil, Elyse continues in this tradition. Under the direction of acclaimed winemaker Russell Bevan we continue to explore some of wine country’s most historic sites.
Crafted by Russell Bevan, one of the most sought-after winemakers in California today, Addax is an artisan winery founded by Brian Kearney and Josh Peeples. What began with a few friends and a few barrels of Cabernet in 2009 has evolved into a phenomenal portfolio of wines, including Oakville Cabernet Sauvignon, Petaluma Gap and Sta. Rita Pinot Noir, and a selection of Sonoma Chardonnays.
After more than a decade, we continue our quest to work with exceptional vineyard sites to produce wines with brazen personality.
Inspired by our decade long relationship with winemaker Russell Bevan, Institution represents a zero compromise approach to crafting wines. While the wines are serious, we often choose to be otherwise.
We selfishly aim to create deep, hedonistic wines that we love to drink. We share what is left with those who never apologize for what they love.
A native of Sonoma, Russell began his wine career as an avid collector and syndicated wine columnist. In 2005 he made the leap of faith into the cellar and quickly became one of the most celebrated winemakers in California. Russell has earned over 15 100-point wines in his career, including the world’s only 100-point wine in 2011. Russell has been the winemaker for Addax for the past decade and begun crafting wines for Elyse in 2018 along with the inaugural vintage of Institution wines.
